A minute ticked by. There was no one to annoy. Ethan looked out the window for a bit. Then he noticed he could see his reflection in the TV, so he made a series of weird faces and oddly performed dance moves. It was funny, and probably better than what was actually on TV, but it wasn’t too exciting.
Ah! Hang on a second. Ethan spotted his sisters iPad on the coffee table. “That was a mistake!” Ethan said. Even if an iPad is locked, which Ethan’s sisters’ definitely were, you can still get access to the camera! Ethan proceeded to take exactly 237 pictures of his face. He would have taken more but the iPad said the available memory was full. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
No one knew what would happen if Ethan went more than ten minutes without being annoying. No one knew, because it had never happened before. Three minutes after taking 237 selfies on Mia’s iPad, Ethan snuck down the stairs to Abigail’s room. The only time Ethan was quiet was when he was sneaking up on someone to annoy them. Stealth is a necessary trait of dorks.
Ethan slowly turned the doorknob and gently pushed the door. Abigail was on her bed drawing, ear buds still in. She was singing with her music. Ethan slid into her room and got right behind her. He moved his lips with the song she was singing and slowly danced. He could see himself in the mirror across the room.
When the chorus of the song came, Abigail let loose with her voice. Ethan couldn’t take it anymore. He screamed and squeezed her neck.
Ahhhh!” Abigail screamed. “What are you doing in here? Get out!. Uh, you are such a dork.” Abigail got up and pushed/shoved/carried Ethan out of her room. She slammed and locked the door.
Ethan stood outside her room applauding her singing. All the commotion made Mia come out of her room. “What is going on?” she asked.
“Abigail was putting on a concert. It was beautiful.” Ethan said still clapping. “Encore! Encore!” he shouted.
“Stop it, Ethan!” Abigail yelled from her room. “Go away. Get a hobby or something.”
“I have a hobby: annoying my sisters.”
“That’s for sure.” Said Mia, returning to her room, making sure to lock her door.
Ethan went back up stairs and sat on the couch alone on a summer morning.
